When you couldn’t remember a thing
I’m currently re-reading LKH’s “A Stroke of Midnight” and ir occurs to me that the first few Merry Gentry books were actually quite good. Then she had to go and make it all about sex, sex, sex. Sheesh.
No wonder her books are getting shelved in romance.
Anyways, I must admit. I haven’t been doing the best I can do with “Kiss Me Sweet”. I told myself that I was going to pull off 2k everyday, but I couldn’t do that yesterday, and I don’t think I can do it tonight. Ah well. I guess I’m just in the mood for some serious blood-shedding and gore. The only way KMS’s going to see blood is if someone stabs herself in the finger with a needle.
Splendid.
Actually, for a while now, I’ve been sort of commiserating about this idea. Remember Mina Harker from The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen as well as Bram Stoker’s Dracula? I think I might like to write a series about a woman similiar to Mina, who’d been turned into a vampire and hates what she’s become. So, she goes on this bloody crusade, becoming this crazy vigilante who wanders the streets of London. Or maybe not even London. Maybe it could be Boston. Or even Philadelphia. The places where I could set this story are endless. Also, she could have this time machine (okay, not literally a time machine!) that enables her to travel from time to time into situations where she could help humans.
Why would she help humans, though?
Maybe she ended up killing her own father in the midst of a bloodlust that she could not contain and now she is paying penance? It’s a common hero archetype: the one with a mission and killed those whom he loved in a helpless situation.
The question is, could I pull it off?
Now, I’ve got to get to work in 15 minutes so during those 15 minutes, I think I’m going to attempt to squeeze out another page for KMS.
Cheerio, mates.
